Veterans Memorial Coliseum
This 12,000-seat venue is home to the Portland Winterhawks hockey team and was the original home of the Portland Trail Blazers. It hosts events, exhibitions, and meetings all year round.
Opened in November 1960 as a memorial to veterans of all wars, and operated continuously since, the Veterans Memorial Coliseum is a multi-purpose arena, meeting and exhibit venue located at the Rose Quarter. An elegant work of architecture, and an excellent example of mid-century modern design, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
The Veterans Memorial Coliseum hosts over 150 events per year, including major international events like an address by the Dalai Lama, the 2007 Davis Cup and a performance by The Beatles. The arena can accommodate up to 12,000 guests; more intimate configurations are available for groups as small as 1,000. A 40,000-square-foot (3,716.1 sq m) exhibit hall and seven meeting rooms are also on-site. Nearby, you’ll find convenient access to MAX Light Rail, Portland Streetcar and TriMet bus service.
