Jamin London Tinsel | Homemades
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Homemades is a new exhibition in the North View Gallery featuring work by ceramic artist Jamin London Tinsel. This exhibition was made possible through generous support from the Regional Arts and Culture Council. “Homemades” is a term that some, including Tinsel’s Italian grandmother, use to describe handmade pasta. In this exhibition, Tinsel investigates the making of home, examining influences from the homes in which she grew up and inviting viewers to consider the ways their own experiences of home have shaped their identities. What does it mean to make a home? How are concepts of home shaped by families of origin? In what ways do the things learned in childhood homes inform the building of new homes as adults?
