Crozier Organ Recital: Caroline Robinson
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Award-winning organist Dr. Caroline Robinson, professor of organ at the University of Michigan, presents a thrilling organ recital for Trinity Cathedral’s Catherine Crozier Memorial Organ Recital. Dr. Robinson’s impressive program includes several exciting and rarely-heard works, including Marcel Dupré’s monumental Symphonie-Passion and Anton Heiller’s stunning Tanz Toccata.
In addition to her numerous U.S. performances, Robinson has performed internationally in England, Denmark, France, Germany, and China. Her playing has been broadcast multiple times on American Public Media’s Pipedreams, Pipedreams LIVE!, and Philadelphia-based public radio station WRTI’s Wanamaker Organ Hour. She has been a featured performer at conventions of the American Guild of Organists, the Organ Historical Society, the East Texas Pipe Organ Festival, the Eastman Rochester Organ Initiative (EROI), and the American Guild of Organists (AGO).
Dr. Robinson’s program is one of true excitement and versatility that will allow both her innate musicianship and prodigious technique to shine, and Trinity’s landmark Rosales pipe organ could not be better suited for such an exciting program.
Dr. Catharine Crozier (1914-2003), a pioneer among women in a field once heavily dominated by male performers, was one of the most admired and sought-after American concert organists of the 20th century. For much of the last decade of her life, she was Artist-in-Residence at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, and her legacy supports the annual Catharine Crozier Memorial Organ Recital, which brings brilliant concert organists from across the globe to Trinity.
