The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

BOLD is honored to host Black and Bold: Celebrating Black Authors at BOLD with Brown Hope. Black Books Matter. Brown Hope and BOLD Coffee are excited to invite you to a community event that honors and uplifts the incredible work of Black authors.

Black and Bold: Celebrating Black Authors will be a space for storytelling, inspiration, and belonging, where you can reflect upon the beautiful writings of people from the African diaspora. The event will include a tribute to legacy Black authors who made trailblazing contributions to the arts and literature, such as Zora Neale Hurston and James Baldwin, including a short biographical presentation and reading of famous passages. Also, celebrate published Black authors in the Pacific Northwest community, including an author conversation panel, live readings, and book signings.

The four featured authors are: Emmett Wheatfall, Renee Mitchell, Judge Kemp, and Nastashia Minto.

There will also be raffle tickets available for purchase. The prize raffle includes: published books by notable Black authors,  a coupon for free Blue Star Donuts, roasted ground coffee, a BOLD Coffee mug, and official Brown Hope swag. This event is free and open to all ages, and we encourage you to come as your full, authentic selves.
