International Booklover’s Burlesque Festival
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
The International Booklover's Burlesque Festival is a weekend event full of the sexiest literary burlesque. Each day will showcase guests of honor and featured authors and, as well as curated performing artists chosen from applications from around the world. The weekend begins with a celebration at the Gala of Good & Evil Cabaret Opening Night. The Grand Showcase #1 features over a dozen readings and performers from a mix of genres (hence an "open" theme). The Grand ShowcaseE #2 (a completely different group of readings and performances) will continue the festival. The CLASSIC CABARET BRUNCH focuses on classic literature.
Each show will feature different world-renowned performing artists and authors, professional actors/readers, and specially-curated burlesque, boylesque, and draglesque acts chosen for the festival. And just as a library is an eclectic mix of books, the festival shall also celebrate an eclectic mix of all types of writing matched with all types of performers. These shows are sex/body/queer positive, feminist, and inclusive to all.
BOOKLOVER'S BURLESQUE, produced by Lacy Knightly/ Nick Lacy of Lacy Productions, is the world's sexiest literary salon which matches titillating, inspiring, and/or empowering book readings with burlesque, boylesque, or draglesque performances. Professional readers, actors, or authors read aloud a piece of writing from any genre and are then followed by a burlesque, boylesque, or draglesque performance inspired by the piece in aesthetic, feel, emotion, character, plot, etc.
