The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

Gallery 114 is pleased to present Catalyst, a solo exhibition featuring paintings by gallery member Kay Henning Danley. Danley will give an artist talk on April 19 at 2 p.m.

Danley's large oil paintings convey dreamlike imagery that evoke memory, imagination and an invitation to experience her paintings as a personal narrative. The paintings in Catalyst focus on the human figure in an inventive environment, as well as the equine species in their surroundings. Of primary importance is the observation of the two species and the connection of figures to each other and their specific situation.

Danley shows her work throughout the Pacific Northwest and in private collections throughout the U.S. and Germany. Her most recent awards include first place for her painting "Veiled" in the 2023 Artworks Northwest Biennial, curated by painter Arvie Smith. Danley's work has also been selected for exhibition in the Thai Embassy through the U.S. State Department program, Arts in Embassies. Danley is a Portland native and works out of her studio at NW Marine Artworks.
