The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

Would you like to learn to identify plants of this region and hear the ecological stories they tell? Join Dr. Jesse Miller and Alex Slakie for an afternoon hike focusing on forest plants of the Pacific Northwest (and maybe a few lichens, mosses and fungi) as the earliest signs of spring appear. This class is designed for beginners. Whether you are new to the Northwest or haven't explored the botanical wonders of the region yet, you will learn to recognize many common trees, shrubs, and a few winter wildflowers. Share information on plant ecology and the uses of some plants for food and medicine.

This is also a great opportunity to get to know fellow nature lovers and strengthen your botanical community.
The total hiking distance will be in the range of two miles (open-ended, depending on speed), and it will be a moderate-intensity hike (specific meeting location will be sent to registrants).
Everyone is welcome, but please leave your dogs at home.
