The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Open Space presents an international dance collaboration with Outrun the Bear (Megan Doheny and Ilya Nikurov), who will perform a self-created duet and choreograph a brand new work on Open Space. Doheny and Nikurov met as dancers at Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel. Doheny, who is American, and Nikurov, who’s originally from Russia, established their Los Angeles-based collaborative dance project, "Outrun The Bear," performing and screening their works in theaters and festivals in Israel, the United States, the Netherlands, Portugal, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Japan, Mexico, Singapore and South Korea.
Open Space’s resident choreographer, Noelle Kayser, and local filmmaker Matthew Tomac will premiere Dust, a nine-minute dance film shot at the Oregon Coast. Kayser feels the film “pays tribute to generational cycles of caregiving and is a reflection of my experience caring for my father as he died of cancer." Dust is funded in part by the Regional Arts and Culture Council.
