Mereba
Mereba moves freely from soul-rooted progressive R&B to folk to hip-hop while favoring a narrative approach to songwriting. Deeply connected to the South, the singer/rapper, multi-instrumentalist, and producer honed her talents in Atlanta, where she became part of the Dreamville-affiliated Spillage Village collective. She got her start as a solo artist with folk-soul recordings, including the Room for Living EP (2013), and made her major-label debut with The Jungle Is the Only Way Out (2019), a wide-ranging album featuring collaborations with 9th Wonder ("Black Truck") and Spillage Village associates JID ("Sandstorm") and 6LACK ("Heatwave"). Following Azeb (2021), an EP highlighted by the affectionate and lullaby-like "Rider," Mereba appeared primarily as a collaborator on songs headlined by the likes of Saba, Ravyn Lenae, and Baby Rose. Signed to Secretly Canadian in 2024, she returned with The Breeze Grew a Fire (2025), her unostentatious. if inviting, second album.
