Moonlight Market
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Lan Su Chinese Garden is announcing their first ever Moonlight Market in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 3rd and 4th.
The Moonlight Market will feature family-friendly events throughout the afternoon and evening, including lion dances, music, local food, market vendors, and more. Only second to the Lunar New Year, the Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the major Chinese traditional holidays observed by many East and Southeast Asian countries. It is held on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunisolar calendar, which is said to be the night the full moon shines brightest during the year. The event aims to highlight a traditional Chinese festival experience with local vendors, lantern viewing, illuminated lion dance, and a Moon Rabbit lantern parade for the whole family and provides a chance to bring people together for a night of food and celebration.
“It is a chance for us to encourage reunion between family and friends, but also between our community and the cultures that celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.”
-Venus Sun, Lan Su Chinese Garden’s Senior Director of Culture and Community Engagement.
