Rose City Classic Dog Show
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
The Rose City Classic Series of Dog Shows is one of the largest and most popular dog events in the United States. That’s why so many of the best dogs in America and dogs from foreign countries travel to Portland each January to compete.
The event spans five days, starting on Wednesday with several Individual breed specialty shows and an all-terrier group show. These specialty events are organized by local AKC dog clubs to improve and preserve a particular breed or group of breeds. Specialty Day is followed on Thursday through Sunday by four all-breed shows.
The all-breed shows feature breed judging, which is also known as conformation. At Rose City Classic, over 180 AKC breeds compete in conformation to earn championships, Best of Breed and Best in Show. In addition to conformation, Rose City Classic offers top-notch performance and companion events such as agility, obedience, Rally®, Canine Good Citizen, Trick Dogs and Scent Work Testing. Competition for Beginner Puppies, 4-6 months old, is held on Saturday.
People who are looking for a specific breed should check out Meet-the-Breeds on Friday through Sunday. Meet-the-Breeds is an educational part of the show where more than 70 breeds and their breeders will be available to share information about their breed with the public.
