It’s no secret that Portlanders love their dogs, so it’s only natural that the city has plenty of dog-friendly eateries. (Fittingly, many of these animal-loving restaurants and bars also offer ample vegan and vegetarian options.) You may have to enter through a side door, but you’ll be spoiled with water bowls, treats and even menu items catered to canine companions. Read on for some great spots where you and your four-legged friend can enjoy delicious food and drinks together.
Northeast
Tin Shed Garden Cafe
Arguably Portland’s best-known dog-friendly patio is Tin Shed on Northeast Alberta Street. This literal tin shed is adjoined by two garden patios: one covered, and one fully uncovered. The menu is filled with egg scrambles, grilled sandwiches and gourmet burgers. It also offers substitutions galore for vegans and gluten-free eaters. Don’t miss the dog menu, which includes Fido Food (choice of protein mixed with rice or sweet potatoes) and a “Doggie Dessert” (peanut butter-banana ice cream). Best of all, on Tuesdays, if you buy a regularly priced human item, you get one doggie item for free!

Tin Shed is famous for its brunches and excellent bloody Marys, so expect a significant wait on weekends. However, there are several benches where you can sit and people-watch (or pup-watch) as you wait. Fill your coffee cup and a water bowl for your pet at the self-serve station.
The Bye & Bye
Another Alberta Street favorite, the Bye and Bye is known for impressing carnivores with its delicious plant-based fare. Options include cornmeal tempeh sandwiches, chili-Frito pie and veggie meatball subs with marinara and almond parmesan. The bar also boasts a serious cocktail roster, complete with fantastic boozy slushies during the summer months. Bye & Bye is also one of the many great places in Portland that welcome pooches. Two expansive patios with water bowls galore earned the bar a Willamette Week nomination for Best Dog-Friendly Bar.
North
Victoria Bar
With its Cajun-inspired menu, Princess Bride-themed cocktail list and swanky, dimly lit interior, Victoria Bar has plenty to offer.In summer, patrons and puppies flock to the massive patio filled with long picnic tables and strings of lights. Enjoy the fresh air while munching on a grilled shrimp sandwich, buffalo cauliflower wrap or vegan fried chicken plate.
The Rambler
Located in a repurposed 1920s bungalow on North Mississippi Avenue, The Rambler offers a comfy, casual experience. Local wine, beer and cider accompany Southwestern-inspired fare, like smoked brisket chili, fish tacos and spicy chicken strips. Adding to the homey vibe, the Rambler provides bocce ball and a slew of board games. Dogs are welcome on the front and back patios, which feature swanky fire pits and covered picnic tables.
Bar Bar
The patio bar attached to Mississippi Studios, Bar Bar is a popular spot for beer, cider, wine and scotch. The eatery also offers tasty grub, like cheeseburger combo meals, toasted cheese ravioli and even a house-made vegan burger. Dogs are welcome outside, where there are plenty of non-smoking and smoking picnic tables, a fire pit and a walk-up window connected to the full-service bar.
Southeast
White Owl Social Club
Located in Portland’s Central Eastside, White Owl Social Club features one of the largest and most popular patios in town. The space often hosts movie nights, live music and DJs, while slinging excellent Moscow mules. An extensive menu that’s equal parts meat and veggie dishes includes a legendary hazelnut beet burger. Although humans patrons must be at least 21 years old, pups of all ages are welcome through the special dog entrance. In addition to many picnic tables, the patio has a fire pit, occasional beer pong games and an outside bar.
