A popular trailhead to Forest Park, the Balch Creek Canyon at Macleay Park features trails that connect to the Wildwood Trail, The Audubon Society Sanctuary and Washington Park. The park is a perfect place to hike to get a great Portland hiking experience on a visit to the city. A landmark and favorite spot to rest along the lower Macleay trail is the Stone House, built in the mid-1930s by the Works Progress Administration.
