The park is also home to the Beverly Cleary Sculpture Garden. Children’s author Beverly Cleary grew up in northeast Portland, and life-sized statues in the park commemorate three of her most memorable characters: Ramona Quimby, Henry Huggins and Henry’s dog, Ribsy. The park is mentioned several times in Cleary’s book, and the garden features a map of the neighborhood showing where events in the books “really happened.”
